Azeri Aghayeva is a multi-disciplinary artist based in London who works primarily with painting, photography and print-making. She graduated from the Slade school of Fine Art in 2021, and  completed the Royal Drawing School’s Drawing year in 2022.

Her practice manipulates observation to create arenas of reality disturbed by nuances of fiction. Recently Aghayeva's work has been informed by the presence of a Middle Eastern 13th century cleric Molla Nesreddin, who has  hijacked her work with his thick oily moustache. This unexpected influence has harnessed manipulation of the nuances of narrative and story-telling skills, allowing her to craft a compelling narrative about bygone times in the Caucasus. Together, she and the fictional painterly adaptation of Nesreddin, engage in a game of sabotage, each vying to disrupt the image first. It is through his sly, crooked-toothed grin that she imparts folk tales that carry profound weight.
